Our name Aurora comes from a cultivar of the Poplar tree, Populus candicans. This variety of Poplar tree leafs out in the spring with a variegated golden pink color and is unique among Poplars. Poplar buds are used as the basis for many of the products we make, as they are a very beneficial and important botanical medicine with a broad range of uses. In early spring, when the Poplar buds begin to grow the air is filled with a distinctly potent and refreshing fragrance.

About Julie Gatti
Our products are created and developed by Julie Gatti, herbalist. She studied near and far with many teachers before settling down in Portland, Oregon in 2000. She studied herbal medicine at The Northeast School of Botanical Medicine, The Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies, and for 2 years with renowned herbalist Cascade Anderson Geller. She held an apprenticeship position at Herb Pharm in Southern Oregon, where she worked on the farm growing and harvesting herbs. Then her studies continued with her work at Wise Ways Herbals in Massachusetts, where she learned how to make salves and other medicinal products on a larger scale.

Her experience as an herbal medicine maker, wildcrafter, gardener and healing practitioner come into play as she carefully creates each herbal formula with the intention to alleviate pain and support the body's healing.
